چکیده

When they encounter problems with a novel or infrequently performed task, experienced users often complete their work by referring to manuals and trying task-oriented exploration. However, the contents of the documentation can vary from step-by-step instructions for a single task to generic descriptions of a family of related procedures. This paper describes the LInked model of Comprehension-based Action planning and Instruction taking (LICAI) that simulates the processes involved in comprehending and using realistic taskoriented instructions. The simulations describe the necessary relationships among the content of the instructions, the goal, and the interface that enable users to accomplish their tasks.

An Automatic Approach for Service Composition by Mining Process Knowledge from the Web

Current approaches in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) are challenging for users to get involved in the service composition due to the in-depth knowledge required for SOA standards and techniques. To shield users from the complexity of SOA standards, we automatically generate composed services for end-users using process knowledge available in the Web. Our approach uses natural language proc...

A Tale of Two DRAGGNs: A Hybrid Approach for Interpreting Action-Oriented and Goal-Oriented Instructions

Robots operating alongside humans in diverse, stochastic environments must be able to accurately interpret natural language commands. These instructions often fall into one of two categories: those that specify a goal condition or target state, and those that specify explicit actions, or how to perform a given task. Recent approaches have used reward functions as a semantic representation of go...

Understanding User Instructions by Utilizing Open Knowledge for Service Robots

Understanding user instructions in natural language is an active research topic in AI and robotics. Typically, natural user instructions are high-level and can be reduced into low-level tasks expressed in common verbs (e.g., ‘take’, ‘get’, ‘put’). For robots understanding such instructions, one of the key challenges is to process high-level user instructions and achieve the specified tasks with...
